The patron saint of Brindisi Montagna is Saint Nicholas of Bari, celebrated on 6 December. The mother church dedicated to him dates from the 15th century and was built over the remains of a small Byzantine-rite church, dedicated to Saint Nicholas.
The fief passed over time from the Sanseverino to the D'Erario, then to the Antinori, the Battaglia and finally the Fittipaldi family, who also gave their name to the castle overlooking the town, built around 1200 and reopened in 2018 after a series of restoration works. In 1536, on the wishes of the feudal lord Pietro Antonio Sanseverino, thirty refugee families from Corone arrived in the abandoned lands of Brindisi Montagna, led by Lazzaro Mathes, a captain of noble Albanian family, who rebuilt the town at the foot of the castle. Among the town's other religious buildings are the church of the Madonna delle Grazie, the church of San Vincenzo Ferreri and the church of San Giacomo.
