The patron saint of Episcopia is Saint Nicholas, celebrated on the second Sunday of May, in the Chiesa Madre di San Nicola di Bari, from the 16th century, restored and reopened to the public in 2011, with three naves: it houses a marble statue of Saint Nicholas, placed in a niche above the high altar, and a second wooden statue dedicated to the Bishop of Myra.
The town also venerates the Madonna del Piano, whose wooden statue, according to an ancient tradition, was found by a group of reapers in a large hollow oak along the path leading to the monastery of Santa Maria del Piano, founded in 952 by saints Christopher, Sabas and Macarius under the rule of Saint Basil, and inhabited until the 18th century first by Cistercian monks, who frescoed its chapel and refectory, then by Colonetan Augustinians. The statue is kept and venerated there from 26 July to 5 August, when a procession full of music, dancing, singing and prayers accompanies it from the sanctuary to the town.
