The patron of Sant'Eufemia d'Aspromonte is Saint Euphemia of Chalcedon, after whom the municipality is named; her feast, the most cherished of the year, falls on 16 September.
Religious celebrations begin on 6 September with the traditional "Luminario", a great bonfire lit in front of the parish church, and continue with the novena; on the feast day a solemn Mass precedes the procession through the streets, which closes with the traditional "Entrata", when the bearers carry the saint's statue back and forth through a tunnel of fireworks.
