The patron saint of Rocchetta Nervina is Saint Stephen the Protomartyr, celebrated on 26 December. The parish church dedicated to him, of 16th-century origin, was reworked during the 18th century in Baroque style: it holds inside two 17th-century paintings and a black stone tabernacle, while on the façade stands a carved architrave dated 1536.
Having returned to Savoy rule, in 1559 the territory was reunited with the marquisate of Dolceacqua under the lordship of Stefano Doria; from 1723 Rocchetta was included in the county of Nice and from 1729 in the province of Sospello, while in 1732 the vassalage passed to the Perrucca family. The town also preserves a medieval bridge over the Barbaira stream; on the summit of Monte Abelliotto stands the battery of the same name, built in 1931 by the Kingdom of Italy as a defensive work of the Vallo Alpino del Littorio.
