San Biagio della Cima

Province: Imperia · Region: Liguria · Population: 1,278 · Postal code: 18036

In 1686 eight villages, from Bordighera to Soldano, joined together and slipped free of Ventimiglia: the Magnifica Comunità degli Otto Luoghi, independent but under the patronage of Genoa, which lasted until the fall of the Republic.

The village sits on a ridge coming down from monte Santa Croce, the 'Cima' of its name. The writer Francesco Biamonti lived here: his house is a documentation centre, and since 2016 there has been the Parco Biamonti, which signposts the places of his books in the village and the countryside around. The population is 1,278.
