The patron of Vessalico is Saint Mary Magdalene, celebrated on 22 July, in the Baroque-style parish church dedicated to her.
The town is known above all for the Garlic Fair, held every year, traditionally on 2 July, since around 1400: it is the most important event for the promotion and sale of Vessalico garlic, recognised at European level and governed by a strict and precise production regulation. Besides garlic, the fair also hosts a traditional livestock market, whose scale has diminished over the years compared to the past.
