Villa Faraldi

Province: Imperia · Region: Liguria · Population: 437 · Postal code: 18010

In 1930, under the font of the parish church, a piece of a funerary stone of the first century BC came to light: a mother, Licinia, had it cut for her son Sufenas Agrippa, a Roman citizen of the same tribe as the people of Albenga. One woman's grief ended up holding up a baptismal font.

The name too is made of two ages: Villa is the Roman farm, Faraldi comes from the Lombard fara, the family group that settles in a place. At Riva Faraldi there is a church built between 1856 and 1881 to discharge a vow: in 1854 the cholera passed through Liguria and spared the village. The population is 437.
