Casalmaiocco celebrates Saint Martin on 11 November, in the church dedicated to him.
The municipality was called Cologno ed Uniti, and after the unification of Italy it took the name of the village it had swallowed. Until 1723 Casalmaiocco, Cologno and the Buttintrocca farmstead were autonomous communities; from 1757 Casalmaiocco was joined to Cologno, and in the end it is the name of the absorbed that won over the name of the absorber. That name comes from the casale of the Maiocchi family, who held the fief from 1417 until 1627, when it passed to the marquesses Brivio; the village appears for the first time in a document of 1210 as Casale de Alamaniis.
In 1515 the countryside around was one of the backdrops of the battle of Marignano, the one called of the giants, in which the French of Francis I defeated the Swiss; according to the scholar Cesare Amelli the king stayed for part of the battle at Casalmaiocco itself. The municipality is crossed by the via Pandina, which Bernabò Visconti had laid out after the middle of the fourteenth century to link the castles of Melegnano and Pandino in a straight line and reach them in the least possible time. Three thousand and sixty-nine inhabitants in the province of Lodi.
