The patron of Bojano is Saint Bartholomew the apostle, celebrated on 25 August. His church is the co-cathedral in Largo Duomo: the diocese of Boiano goes back to the 6th century, but reliable records of the cathedral begin in 1073.
The building has been destroyed and put back up many times, between earthquakes, floods and wars: a first quake badly damaged it as early as 1117, and after the more recent collapses it was rebuilt in neoclassical style, so the cathedral has lost its medieval look. From those older times, though, comes the most curious thing about it: the Norman apse rediscovered in the crypt during the restoration work of the 1990s, built over a spring.
