The patron saint of Bonefro is Bishop Saint Nicholas, celebrated on 9 May: the municipal coat of arms depicts him, with the banner made of an azure cloth.
The town preserves the Lombard castle, built around the mid-10th century, and the church of Santa Maria delle Rose, built in the Romanesque period between the 12th and 13th centuries and restored by Monsignor Tria in 1731: both buildings stand atop a rocky spur, at the entrance to the old village, commonly called «Terra Vecchia», where four gates are still preserved, remnants of the feudal period, known as Porta Molino, Porta Piè la Terra, Porta Fontana and Porta Nuova. In the urban context, also of great importance are the convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie, from 1716, and the chapel of San Nicola, as well as the town's two main fountains, the Fontana dei Ciechi, in 18th-century style but built in 1816, and the Fontana della Terra, from 1771.
