The patron saint of Busso is Saint Lawrence the martyr, celebrated on 10 August. The church dedicated to him was probably built in the 15th century and remodelled in the Renaissance period, then rebuilt in the Baroque style around 1728 and restored after the great Molise earthquake of 1805: it has a single nave, a simple gabled facade and a Neoclassical bell tower, with a spire and upper lantern.
The town also preserves the church of Santa Maria in Valle, near the fountain of Sant'Onofrio, at the foot of Monte Vairano, also restored after the 1805 earthquake and today a pilgrimage destination. It was precisely at Monte Vairano, according to some hypotheses, that the ancient Oscan city called Akudunnia stood, called Aquilonia by the Romans: historians have long debated whether one of the battles of the Samnite Wars narrated by Livy took place here, although contemporary scholars consider it more likely that historical Aquilonia stood further west, on the border with Lazio. The site, surrounded by fortified walls, is thought to have functioned mainly as a garrisoned fortification, falling into abandonment after the Roman conquest.
