Saint Victoria, patron of the land of the Turriglio
📅 Every year, on 3 September
Santa Vittoria d'Alba celebrates Saint Victoria on 3 September, in the castle dedicated to her.
At the crossing of the roads that linked Alba Pompeia, Pollentia and Augusta Bagiennorum stands the Turriglio: a Roman structure, round in plan on a square base, perhaps what is left of a temple.
The castle stands on the rock among the vineyards, with a square tower thirty metres high: it is first recorded for certain in 1154, when pope Anastasius IV calls it Castrum Sancte Victorie cum ecclesiis. It is privately owned now and has been turned into a hotel. One of the hamlets is called Cinzano, and the firm takes its name from it.
