From Soddì you can see the lake Omodeo, and the village stands high on its shore, in the historic region of Guilcer. Before all this there were the nuraghi, and three of them still stand in its territory: Aurù, which is a single tower, Santa Anastasia and Crastu. Here, as at Bidonì a little further on, they speak the limba de mesania.
The village belonged to the Judicate of Arborea until it fell, in 1410, then it was an Aragonese fief and part of the marquisate of Sedilo, and in 1839 the inhabitants bought it out. But the more recent loss is another one: in 1927 the comune was abolished and merged into Ghilarza, and it took half a century for it to become independent again, in 1979.
