The patron of Acquaviva Platani is the Santissimo Crocifisso delle Grazie (Most Holy Crucifix of the Graces), celebrated on the third Sunday of September; the village holds the Chiesa Madre Santa Maria della Luce.
San Giuseppe (Saint Joseph), the saint most loved by the people of Acquaviva, is celebrated on 19 March: on the eve, 18 March, after the evening mass, the statue of the adolescent Jesus is carried in procession on its own. The solemnity of San Giuseppe is characterised by its bond with the traditional «tavolate dei vicchiareddri» (banquet tables). The municipality also holds the Chiesa di Santa Maria delle Grazie, the Chiesa di Santa Rosalia, the Chiesa del Purgatorio and the Museo dell'emigrazione.
