The patron saint of Catenanuova is Saint Prosper the martyr, celebrated together with the co-patroness Mary Most Holy of Grace in the town's most important feast, held every year from the second-to-last to the last Sunday of September. The feast was established in 1752 by the founder of Catenanuova, Andrea Giuseppe Riggio-Statella, prince of the Catena, who brought to the town the relics of the martyr Prosper, taken from the catacombs of San Callisto in Rome.
The Parco San Prospero, today a public space in the town, takes its name precisely from the patron saint: until 1985, with the proceeds from the harvest carried out inside it, town administrators funded the patronal feast. On 12 September 1985 the town council changed its use. Catenanuova also preserves the church of San Giuseppe and that of the Immaculate Conception.
