Exactly 8,907 residents live in Sortino, a town in the Iblean Mountains whose international recognition stems from its proximity to the Necropolis of Pantalica. Situated in the Anapo river valley, this massive rocky burial site forms a joint UNESCO World Heritage area with Syracuse.
Beyond its ancient neighbor, the settlement is characterized by a series of Baroque monuments shaping its central streets. Sortino is also widely recognized across Sicily for its historical honey production. Securing a jar of this local staple makes for a highly recommended purchase before continuing your drive through the province.
