The patron saint of Fossato di Vico is Saint Sebastian, celebrated on 20 January. On the occasion of his feast, alternating each year between the historic archer company of Fossato di Vico and that of Valfabbrica, the «Palio di San Sebastiano» is held, a historic archery competition.
Near the church of Santa Croce, in the hamlet of Collina di Purello, stands a milestone bearing the cross pattée distinctive of the Templars, marked with the year 1173; a similar milestone is kept in the local civic museum. In the second week of May the town celebrates its typical feast, the Festa degli Statuti: the inhabitants dress as medieval townsfolk to return to 1386, the year in which the town's ancient communal statutes were published, with mock battles between soldiers, juggling acts and typical medieval scenes open to anyone wearing period costume. The town's four gates, Porta Portella, Porta Nova, Porta del Castello and Porta del Serrone, compete on this occasion for «il Palio», painted each year by local artists.
