The cabins rotate on themselves as they climb, and the panorama wheels around like a film: Skyway Monte Bianco, opened in 2015, lifts you from Courmayeur to Punta Helbronner's 3,466 metres in two legs of pure engineering. Up there, the circular terrace lines up Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and Gran Paradiso: Italy's highest drawing room reachable without crampons.
What to see
The 360-degree summit terrace over the massif; the crystal room and the glacier tunnel when open; at the mid-station Pavillon, the Saussurea botanical garden — Europe's highest — with July's alpine blooms. And the ride itself: the cabin's full rotation is half the show.
Visiting
Half a day; in high season online booking beats the morning queues. At 3,466 metres it is cold even in August and breath runs short: jacket always, movements calm. Weather rules — with low cloud, postpone; the ticket deserves a clear day.
Getting there
Departure is at Pontal d'Entrèves, three kilometres from Courmayeur: village shuttles, multi-storey car park at the base station. Courmayeur is reached by bus from Aosta or via the Mont Blanc tunnel.
