Every 3-5 February Catania stops for its patron saint: two long processions, the towering candelore of the old guilds, and hundreds of thousands of devotees in white tunics following the silver reliquary float.

Feast of Saint Blaise (San Biagio)

📅 Every year on 3 February, with rites from the last Sunday of January

On 3 February Bronte honours its co-patron with a procession from the church of San Sebastiano and the traditional blessing of throats; the rites begin on the last Sunday of January.

📅 Every year, on 9 February

On 9 February Melfi celebrates Saint Alexander of Bergamo, patron of a Lucanian town that carries the name of a northern saint.

Feast of Saint Castrensis

📅 Every year, on 11 February

On 11 February Monreale celebrates Saint Castrensis, its patron, in the church that carries his name — a different address from the cathedral the town is known for.

Feast of Saint Valentine

📅 Every year, on 14 February

The saint of lovers was this city's bishop, and 14 February is the day he died. Terni keeps him as its patron, with the basilica that holds his remains.

Patron saint festival In 168 days 📍 Agrigento

Feast of Saint Gerland

📅 Every year, on 25 February

Agrigento's patron is Saint Gerland, celebrated on 25 February, and the cathedral carries his name. In town, however, the stronger devotion is to Saint Calogerus, co-patron.

Festival 📍 Cefalù

Cefalù Carnival

📅 Every year between Fat Thursday and Shrove Tuesday

In the run-up to Lent, Cefalù fills with masks, confetti and events for children. The town hall builds the programme from proposals by local associations and parishes; the 2026 edition ran 12-17 February.
