The patron of Apricale is Saint Anthony the Abbot, celebrated on 8 September in the church dedicated to him, dating from the 13th century, built near the town's cemetery on the remains of an ancient Romanesque-era temple.
The town's main parish, however, is the church of the Purification of Mary, built around the 12th century and reworked several times: a 1760 restoration turned it into Baroque style and the neo-Romanesque façade was rebuilt in 1935. Its bell tower was obtained from the old square tower of the nearby castello della Lucertola. At the foot of the town also stands the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, with 15th-century frescoes. In the square in front of the parish church, the heart of the town, various local events are held throughout the year, including the sagra della pansarola, traditional sweet fritters, on the second Sunday of September.
