The patron saint of Cesano Maderno is Saint Stephen the Protomartyr, celebrated on the fourth Sunday of September in the parish church dedicated to him, a building that took the place of the old church of Santo Stefano.
The town holds Palazzo Arese Borromeo, whose construction, begun after 1618 as a suburban noble residence, was completed between 1660 and 1670 by the then President of the Senate of Milan, Count Bartolomeo Arese: the hall of honour still today holds Lombard-school frescoes by Ercole Procaccini the Younger, Giuseppe Nuvolone, Montalto, Giovanni Ghisolfi and Antonio Busca, contemporary with the palace's construction. Near the building, still visible, stands a small tower, evidence of the old fortified structure that once occupied the town's territory.
