The patron of Mercatino Conca is Saint Apollinaris of Ravenna (sant'Apollinare di Ravenna), celebrated on 23 July; the municipality holds the Chiesa Sant'Apollinare.
The village, called «Marcatén» in Romagnol and «Mercadén» in the Gallo-Picene dialect, lies in the Marche but belongs to the territory of historic Romagna and to the historical-geographical region of Montefeltro; until 1940 it was known as Piandicastello. The coat of arms and banner, granted in 1962, show the bridge over the river Conca and three bees, which symbolise the local industry.
