The patron of Cortazzone is Saint Secundus of Asti, celebrated on 2 May; the feast is held in the church of San Secondo, still open for worship.
The church stands on a green hill called Mongiglietto, about a kilometre west of the built-up area: it is an example of Romanesque architecture, dating from the early 12th century, notable for the imaginative sculptural decorations that adorn the south wall, the apses and the interior capitals.
