The patron of San Giorio di Susa is Saint George, celebrated on 23 April; on the Sunday closest to that date, at the old castle, the historical-legendary re-enactment of the «suppression of the feudal lord» (soppressione del feudatario) takes place.
About a hundred characters in medieval costume relive, with original songs and dances of the local tradition, the legend of the peasant people who, oppressed by a local lordling of the Bertrandi family, rebel against the attempt to enforce the ius primae noctis on a young bride; the texts were written by Don Attilio Bar, the town's parish priest, the music by Luigi «Viginet» Pognant Gros, and the first performance was for the feast of Saint George in 1929. The Spadonari and their Sword Dance, the Sabru, also stand out in the local tradition.
