The patrons of Deliceto are Saint Matthias the Apostle, Blessed Benvenuto and Mary Most Holy of Olmitello, the town's principal patron and co-patron; the feast falls on 22 September.
Tradition holds that in 1837, when cholera invaded the Capitanata region, the people of Deliceto escaped the contagion after carrying the statue of the Madonna in procession through the streets of the town: this happened on 22 September itself, which is why Deliceto's patronal feast is celebrated every year from the 21st to the 23rd.
