The patron saint of Polizzi Generosa is Saint Gandolfo of Binasco, in secular life Gandolfo Sacchi, celebrated on the third Sunday of September. The friar, belonging to the Franciscan Order, was born in Binasco in 1200 or 1201 and died precisely in Polizzi Generosa on 3 April 1260: venerated as a saint and blessed, he is still the town's patron today.
The town preserves numerous traces of its history in the Castello della Regina Bianca, in the church of Santa Maria Assunta and in that of San Francesco, as well as in the Madonita environmental museum, dedicated to the Madonie area.
