In Cassaro the feast of the patron saint is celebrated on the last Sunday of July, with a rare peculiarity: the saint being honoured changes from year to year, rotating among Saint Joseph, Saint Sebastian and Saint Anthony. The town preserves the churches dedicated to two of these three saints, the church of San Sebastiano Martire and the church of Sant'Antonio Abate, along with the church of San Pietro in Vincoli.
Cassaro's religious celebrations also follow the Easter calendar, with rites in Sicilian dialect: on Good Friday the «Scisa 'â cruci» and the procession of Our Lady of Sorrows, on Holy Saturday the procession of the Madonna searching for her Son, and on Easter Sunday «U Scontru», the meeting of the statues of the risen Christ and the Madonna. The village lies within the territory of the Pantalica, Anapo Valley and Cava Grande Stream nature reserve.
