Bettona celebrates Saint Crispolto on 12 May; in 1352, after the conquest by Perugia, the town was burned and demolished and his remains carried off as prisoners along with 157 local notables.

The patron saint of Bettona is Saint Crispolto, celebrated on 12 May: according to tradition, it was he who evangelised the town along the Via Amerina, one of the most important routes north. In 1352, after being conquered by Perugia, the town was burned and demolished, except for the churches, and 157 local notables were taken prisoner to Perugia along with the saint's body. The church dedicated to him, built by monks to hold his remains as early as the 8th century, with an 18th-century façade by Antonio Stefanucci, was closed after the 2017 earthquake and the patron's relics were moved to the mother church.

In the municipal art gallery, housed in the 1371 Palazzetto del Podestà, a banner from Perugino's workshop (1512-13) is kept, depicting the Madonna and Child with Saints Anne, Anthony and Crispolto protecting Bettona from the plague. The town's medieval walls, built in the 12th century, incorporate stretches of the older Etruscan walls.
