The patrons of Gualdo Cattaneo are Blessed Ugulino and the martyr saints Anthony and Antoninus, celebrated on 8 May. The church of Santi Antonio e Antonino, dedicated to them, dates from 1260.
The town is rich in remnants of the past: the "Rocca sonora" fortress, built between 1494 and 1498 by the lords of Foligno over an older structure of the Trinci family, dominates the settlement alongside the minor castles of Speltara and Simigni. Gualdo Cattaneo is today part of the union of municipalities "Terre dell'Olio e del Sagrantino", for the production of extra-virgin olive oil and Montefalco Sagrantino, a native Umbrian grape variety.
