The patron saint of Fratta Todina is Saint Michael, celebrated on 8 May. The town arose around a medieval castle that belonged to the bishop of the diocese of Todi: it passed in the early 15th century to Braccio da Montone, the renowned Umbrian condottiero, before returning under the rule of Todi, following its fortunes.
Among the town's most notable buildings are the 17th-century Bishop's Palace and the 19th-century parish church of San Sabino. In the hamlet of Spineta stands one of the oldest Franciscan convents in the area, dating from 1291.
