The patron saint of Avigliano Umbro is Saint Giles, celebrated on 1 September, with the church dedicated to him. The municipal territory preserves natural testimonies unique in the world at the vegetal palaeontology centre of the Dunarobba fossil forest, as well as the Fortezza Alta overlooking the town and the striking Grotta Bella.
During Carnival, the main figures in the celebrations are the Umbrian masks of the commedia dell'arte, such as Nasotorto, Nasoacciaccato, Chicchirichella and Rosalinda, with theatrical performances, parades and dances. The town also hosts the Festa della Musica e delle Arti, a cultural event promoted by the town council in collaboration with the Music Avigliano association, featuring concerts, theatrical performances and educational activities.
