Camporosso celebrates Saint Sebastian on 20 January; on 21 April 1686 the town, together with seven other eastern hamlets of Ventimiglia, formed the Magnificent Community of the Eight Places, one of the earliest forms of confederative cooperation among Ligurian towns.

The patron saint of Camporosso is Saint Sebastian, celebrated on 20 January.

Camporosso's history long followed that of the community of Ventimiglia, under the rule of the Lascaris counts and the town of Ventimiglia, despite its territory bordering Dolceacqua, an ancient possession of the Genoese Doria family, rivals of the counts of Ventimiglia: the proximity to Ventimiglia sparked bloody battles over the centuries, with frequent military occupations. On 21 April 1686 the eastern hamlets of Ventimiglia, including Bordighera, Borghetto San Nicolò, Camporosso, San Biagio della Cima, Sasso, Soldano, Vallebona and Vallecrosia, joined together in the Magnificent Community of the Eight Places, one of the earliest forms of confederative cooperation and association among towns, governed by «chapters of good government» and managed by four mayors.

The parish church of San Marco Evangelista, in the historic centre, was built in the 15th century and enlarged in the 18th: it holds several polyptychs and a 16th-century wooden statue of the titular saint; since 1787 the church clock has been mounted on the façade. The church of San Pietro, next to the cemetery, dates instead from the 11th century, in Romanesque style with a single nave and semicircular apse, later enlarged with a new side nave. Camporosso was the birthplace of Saint Francis Mary of Camporosso, a Capuchin friar known as «il Padre Santo»; in January 2007 the town granted honorary citizenship to another Capuchin friar, Giuseppe Capponi, known as Padre Candido, for the commitment with which the Capuchins spread the word of their holy fellow townsman around the world.
