On 4 September Ala di Stura, a municipality of 462 inhabitants in the province of Turin, celebrates its patron San Grato.

The patron of Ala di Stura is San Grato, celebrated on 4 September.

The traditional festival is held on the days of Ferragosto: the streets of the village are decked with tricolour flags and objects typical of Piedmontese culture, in the evening bands perform and the young people of Ala, dressed in traditional costume, go around the village selling tricolour cockades. On the day of Ferragosto the band wakes the town by playing along the whole route through the village. For San Grato, after mass, the band accompanies the procession to Villar and plays around the village all day. Every three years, at the beginning of September, the festa dei mestieri (festival of trades) is held in the hamlet of Villar: along the streets of the village the inhabitants set to work to make it seem that the town lives as it did a hundred years ago, with performances of carpenters, merchants, shepherds and fortune-tellers. The municipality also holds the Chiesa di San Nicola Vescovo, the Santuario della Madonna di Martassina, the Cappella dei Santi Fabiano e Sebastiano and the church of Sant'Antonio da Padova.
