The feast of the patron saint, San Lorenzo (Saint Lawrence), with its feast day on 10 August, involves the village for three days in celebrations, traditional dances and bocce tournaments; the municipality holds the Chiesa di San Lorenzo Martire.
Another very interesting event is the feast of San Bernardo, held at the chapel of Mares on the third Sunday of August: hundreds of people make a two-hour walk-procession from Canischio to Cima Mares and the chapel of San Bernardo, with religious services and traditional dances and music that respect Franco-Provençal folklore. Canischio is also famous for its mushrooms, chestnuts, tomini cheeses and trout, caught along the Gallenca and Bruino streams.
