The patron of Vinovo is Saint Bartholomew, celebrated on 24 August in the church dedicated to him. Built in 1451 as an enlargement of the private chapel of the Della Rovere family, located inside their first castle, it then took over from the church of San Desiderio as the parish church of the Vinovo community; San Desiderio kept custody of the image of the Madonna Addolorata. In 1615 the church of San Bartolomeo was enlarged and reworked, taking on roughly its present form; on 4 August 1630, during the War of the Monferrato, cavalry squadrons set it on fire, but it was rebuilt after the battle ended.
The Della Rovere castle, later belonging to the Counts delle Lanze, housed from 1775 a highly renowned majolica and porcelain factory, directed by Vittorio Amedeo Gioanetti; the Order of the Knights of Malta, which had become its owner, was suppressed in 1800 and most of its lands sold to private owners, before the House of Savoy rebuilt its estate after 1815.
