The patron saint of Doues is Saint Blaise, celebrated on 3 February. The parish church dedicated to him stands in the main village.
The municipal coat of arms takes up that of the noble de la Crête family, originally from the village, whom Duke Charles II of Savoy made lords of Doues in 1543. The Castle of La Crête, today converted into a rural dwelling, first belonged to the barons La Crête and later to the marquises Pallavicini. The village is also known for the Carnival of the Combe Froide, during which the Landzette parade, the traditional masks inspired by the uniforms of the Napoleonic troops that sowed terror as they passed through in May 1800.
