The patron saint of Pontey is Saint Martin, celebrated on 11 November: important observances for the town are precisely his patronal feast and Carnival, during which the Ferpafrapa effigy is burned. The parish church dedicated to him, in the main village of Lassolaz, already depended directly on the bishopric of Aosta in the 12th century, whose emblem, the gold crosier on a blue field, still appears today on the town's coat of arms; a reference to the church is found in a papal bull of 1176 by Pope Alexander III.
At Plan-Fornet important remains of industrial archaeology are preserved, in particular a square-based reed-lined blast furnace, called «alla bergamasca», dating from the 18th century and among the oldest in the Aosta Valley: ventilated by the stream's hydraulic power and fuelled by charcoal, it produced iron and copper, and probably fell out of use already by the end of the 18th century, also due to the introduction of more modern coke-fired technologies.
