The patron of Candelo is Saint Lawrence, celebrated on 10 August. The church that bears his name stands in the street of the same name: the first building predates the year 1000, but it was entirely rebuilt in Baroque style in the second half of the 17th century, and inside it keeps works of art and fine woodwork.
The old centre, though, is known above all for the ricetto, the fortified medieval structure where the community's goods were stored. The town hall stands right against it, in Piazza Castello: to make room for it, in 1816 a portion of the ricetto was pulled down.
