The patron saints of Volpiano are Saints Peter and Paul, celebrated on 29 June. The parish church dedicated to them perhaps began as the castle's chapel: it has lines close to Gothic style, but was rebuilt several times due to continuous extensions and restorations, between 1875 and 1879 at the will of vicar Monsignor Vaschetti, and most recently in 2019.
The castle of Volpiano, according to the description of the chronicler Pietro Azario, was fitted with a very high wall and was extended until it could house five hundred armed men; the settlement remained a possession of the lords of Monferrato throughout the 15th century, a period during which the castle and the town were restructured several times.
