Overlooking Piazza Marina in Cefalù, the church of San Sebastiano historically bore the year 1523 on its original façade. It falls under the administration of the Santa Maria college, founded between 1743 and 1770 by Bishop Gioacchino Castelli inside the neighbouring convent of Santa Maria di Monte Carmelo. That convent was established in 1578 by Friar Alberto da Monaco and subsequently expanded by Matteo Orlando, Bishop of Cefalù from 1674 to 1694.

What to see

The interior consists of a single nave. Two frescoed niches are set into each of the side walls, while the high altar preserves a gilded tabernacle from the late 17th century.
