The patron of Barge is Saint John the Baptist, celebrated on 24 June in the parish church dedicated to him, once an early medieval pieve of the diocese of Turin and later the seat of the town's main parish, dependent on the diocese of Saluzzo since Napoleonic times. The great Lombard Romanesque bell tower, the largest pieve bell tower over a very wide area, shows that as early as the first quarter of the 11th century the village was a settlement of considerable population: the building is today one of the largest non-cathedral churches in Piedmont.
Among Barge's monuments is also the lower castle, built as the castle of the lords of Barge in the 11th century atop a crag and turned into a Franciscan convent in the 15th century; in the 19th century it became a private residence, a use it still retains today after a period in public hands between 1904 and 1940.
